At the invitation of the Latin American Council of the Cosmetics, Personal Care, and Home Care Industry (CASIC), Natura's Director of Innovation, Roseli Mello, spoke about the use of natural products, the law on access to genetic heritage, and traditional knowledge associated alongside Luciana Santi, Vice President of the entity, during the 2018 edition of the event that took place on September 20 in São Paulo.
The fair, which brings together more than 4,600 people from 38 different countries, features international exhibitors of raw materials, fragrances, laboratory equipment, testing, and regulatory solutions, promotes innovation in raw materials and technologies, and showcases industry trends.
During Natura's presentation, Roseli highlighted sustainability and technology being worked on side by side in the case of Natura Ekos Patauá. This new product line included cutting-edge technologies in the extraction and application of an oil with a high diversity of compounds for hair growth, while also contributing to the social and cultural development of the producing communities.
Additionally, the presentation provided some data about the company's operational model, interacting with 34 producing communities of plant species, contributing to the conservation of 257,000 hectares of standing forest. Coupled with the guidelines of the New Brazilian Biodiversity Law and the company's sustainable practices, this approach has been widely disseminated as a desired path for fair trade and business development in a new economy.
