Natura is the fourth most innovative company in the country, according to the Valor Inovação Brasil 2018 yearbook. The ranking is conducted based on a survey carried out by the consulting firm Strategy&, in conjunction with Valor Econômico and with the support of the National Association of Research and Development of Innovative Companies (Anpei). In the last year, with actions focused on technological innovation and research and development, the company's Innovation Index increased from 57.1% to 64.6%.
It is important to highlight that this is one of the most important rankings of companies engaged in research, development, and innovation activities. Its methodology is based on five pillars of the innovation chain:
- intention to innovate;
- effort to achieve innovation;
- results obtained;
- market evaluation; and
- knowledge generation.
Thus, the research consistently and systematically evaluates the innovation practices of companies, their investments in the local market, and the results obtained based on these factors. An important differentiator is that in each of the pillars, the context of Brazil is taken into account, and how this reflects in the innovation practices of each participant.
