With registrations open until July 18, Natura will award two researchers with prizes of 25 thousand reais each in the second edition of the CAPES - Natura Campus of Excellence in Research Award. In partnership with CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), the award aims to stimulate research and the production of high-impact scientific articles in the areas of Sustainability and Biodiversity.
In this second edition, scientific works addressing the themes Biodiversity: Bioconversion of Amazonian chain waste and Conservation: Prospecting potential microorganisms for bioactives will be selected. With this, CAPES and Natura aim to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in strategic areas.
The president of CAPES, Abilio Baeta Neves, recognizes the importance of honoring works originating from postgraduate studies, as they are one of the main contributors to the advances in the country's scientific production. “Excellence productions reward the work of CAPES and all Brazilian postgraduate education,” he states.
“At Natura, we see sustainability as a driver of innovation and believe it is essential for companies to be increasingly connected with the academic world, a source of scientific research with the potential to create disruptive technologies. In this second edition of the CAPES – Natura Campus Award, two important contemporary challenges are on the agenda: adding value to waste in the Amazonian biodiversity ingredient chains and obtaining new assets through biotechnology,” says Daniel Gonzaga, director of Innovation and Product Development at Natura.
In addition to the cash prize of 25 thousand reais, each of the awardees will receive airfare and daily allowances to attend the award ceremony, as well as a certificate for the awarded authors and for the postgraduate and research program from which the awarded article originated.
Eligible for the award are individual works or co-authored works by holders of a master's or doctoral degree or enrolled in master's or doctoral programs, linked to a postgraduate and research institution recognized by the Ministry of Education. The articles must have been published in a high-impact scientific journal from 2016 until the registration deadline. Interested parties must register exclusively through the website http://pcn.capes.gov.br.
