Voting is open for the 2nd edition of the National Biodiversity Award. The award recognizes initiatives from companies, civil society organizations, academia, and public agencies that stand out for seeking to improve the conservation status of species in Brazilian biodiversity, contributing to the achievement of the National Biodiversity Targets.
Natura is competing in the companies category for the initiative "Conservation and management of genetic resources of uccuba," a project led by Natura's Bioagriculture team in partnership with UFSCar, which aims to conduct studies on the genetic diversity of populations in the forest region of Pará and evaluate the management of this resource to ensure sustainable use and conservation of the species, which is at risk of extinction in the Amazon.
This collaboration between the company, universities, and rural cooperatives allowed for the assessment of the diversity and genetic and spatial structure of uccuba in 7 areas and the production and distribution of 3000 seedlings of the species.
