The second edition of the DemoDay of BioStartup Lab is coming up. The event, a pioneer in Brazil, provides a platform for life sciences startups to present their projects to potential investors and partners. This time, the DemoDay will take place on October 7th, in Belo Horizonte.
Participating in the event are the finalist startups from a round of the BioStartup Lab, a pre-acceleration program specialized in life sciences by Biominas Brasil and Sebrae Minas, which has already received over 300 startup applications and has boosted the creation of 42 companies in two rounds.
With the theme "Watch the Reaction," this edition will showcase startups with new products for healthy eating, nanotechnologies as alternatives for more efficient and less aggressive pesticides, vaccines for animal treatment, applications to facilitate herd management in the field, new drugs and new tests for the treatment and diagnosis of human diseases, as well as technologies that allow the transformation of industrial waste into new sustainable products and wearables integrated with the Internet of Things.
The previous edition of DemoDay took place in April, bringing together 11 investment funds and 44 medium and large companies interested in prospecting new technological solutions and practicing open innovation. Natura was present and will repeat its participation in the second edition.
In its debut, the event revealed several innovative projects to the market. Among them is the winning startup Fófuuu, which offers a digital game to help children engage and perform speech therapy exercises, Oncotag, which provides a biomarker panel to increase accuracy in cancer diagnosis and was later a finalist in InovAtiva, a Federal Government acceleration program, and the startup Hakkuna, which is challenging the healthy food market by proposing protein bars made from insects, thus attracting the attention of companies like BRF Foods.
The second edition of DemoDay is aimed at investors, large companies, and startup accelerators who have guaranteed invitations and can request them via the email biostartuplab@biominas.org.br. There are also invitations reserved for the general public, which can be requested through the link.
