Capes/Natura Campus Award Announces Finalist Articles List

The Capes Natura-Campus Excellence in Research Award announces this Friday, the 27th, the list of finalist articles. After receiving 268 articles, six works of high relevance and impact for scientific and technological development focused on sustainability and biodiversity were selected. The selected articles encompass the themes "Sustainability: new materials and technologies" and "Sociobiodiversity and Biological Conservation," with three finalist articles in each category.

The winning articles will be revealed during the award ceremony, on a date to be determined. In addition to certificates and travel expenses, the initiative provides R$ 25,000 to the authors.

The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) and the Brazilian multinational cosmetics company, Natura. The award was launched in November of last year.

During the event, the president of Capes, Carlos Nobre, highlighted the innovation of the Capes Natura Award in selecting scientific articles instead of theses or dissertations. "The tradition at Capes is to value the training of human resources, especially at the doctoral level, in the form of awards for theses. This time, we will award a scientific work originating from a doctoral thesis or a master's dissertation. We want to increasingly encourage theses and dissertations to generate high-level and relevant articles, thus enhancing the culture of disseminating results in the best journals in the world."
