On this Wednesday, November 11, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Brazilian multinational cosmetics company Natura launched the Capes/Natura Campus Award for Excellence in Research, along with its first announcement. The news was presented during an event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Capes Periodicals Portal held at the Anísio Teixeira Space Auditorium, in the headquarters of the government agency in Brasília.
The award aims to stimulate the production of scientific research on strategic topics for the future of the country and the planet: Sustainability and Biodiversity. The selection and recognition mechanism consists of evaluating articles published in high-impact scientific journals. In the agreement established between Capes and Natura, three editions of the award are planned, one every two years.
The articles submitted in this first edition must address topics related to “Sustainability: new materials and technologies” or “Sociobiodiversity and Biological Conservation.” Applications can be made from November 11 to December 21, at the address pcn.capes.gov.br. The winners will be announced in June 2016.
Award
One article will be selected in each of the two themes. The award consists of R$ 25,000 for each of the winners, airfare, and daily allowances for the finalist authors to attend the award ceremony, a certificate for the winning authors, and an award certificate for the graduate program and research from which the winning article originated.
