The Ekos Hackathon: Hands in the Forest will have 32 participants. These are people with diverse experiences and backgrounds who will seek, together, solutions to connect the Amazon and Nature to everyday life.
To give a glimpse of who will be joining us in our innovation marathon, we spoke with two selected participants who have already taken part in other hackathons but are excited about our challenge.
Leandro Correia lives in Suzano, São Paulo, where he is the founder of the innovation lab LabInova. He often travels the country to participate in hackathons. Brasília, Acre, Bahia, and now Pará are examples of destinations that our selected participant has visited in search of innovative solutions.
And he has already had the chance to see some of his good ideas come to life. “In Brasília, I participated in a hackathon that sought solutions for the government. I created a system that mediated information between companies and public agencies, transforming a process that was done on paper into a digital process. I won that hackathon and that system is still running today,” he recalls.

With all this experience, the participant has great expectations for the Ekos Hackathon: Hands in the Forest. “I hear about various hackathons, but I only sign up for those that I feel provide space to develop an interesting, truly innovative idea,” he explains.
In Belém, Leandro will have the opportunity to meet another fan of innovation marathons. Renato Rodrigues is a Production Engineer in the city of Campinas and is excited for his eighth hackathon, the first one promoted by Natura Campus.
He shares that in December, he attended a hackathon in the United States and mentioned his registration for the Ekos event. The proposal was very well received. “I mentioned that I could go to a hackathon in the Amazon rainforest and everyone there found it very interesting. Because it is indeed very different. This idea of innovating in the forest, experiencing a situation that you are not used to in order to find answers that can assist in your project. I think it’s all very innovative,” highlights Renato.
It’s clear that between March 16 and 20, many great people will be gathered for our innovation and prototyping marathon. “I’m going to learn a lot. In four days you gain so much knowledge, discover many new things that you would take months to learn in a traditional way. Not to mention the friendships that last even after the event,” summarizes Leandro.
