Last week, the Natura Amazon Innovation Center (NINA) celebrated two years of operation. Based in Manaus (AM), NINA is part of Natura's Amazon Program and aims, through its network activities with other actors in the regional system, to contribute to the development of innovation based on opportunities related to Amazonian sociobiodiversity.
Since its founding, Natura's unit has carried out projects that have contributed both to innovation and to the development of the Amazon. Among its achievements is the organization, together with the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (FAPEAM), of the Amazonian Plant Ingredients Award, which was initiated from a challenge launched here in the Natura Campus program.
To achieve the goal of increasingly promoting the development of new research, NINA has also expanded partnerships with extractive communities in the region and with other local institutions such as the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), the National Institute for Amazon Research (INPA), the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), and the Amazon Biotechnology Center (CBA).
In this anniversary month, NINA emphasized the importance of relevant technological development for the regional innovation system and, through a partnership with FAPEAM, offered more than 30 scholarships of various types that will be implemented in the scientific projects developed by Natura and partners in the region.
