With the aim of promoting an environment of connection and partnership building, in July, the Natura Amazônia Innovation Hub held the Conexão Natura Campus 2013 – Amazônia.
This event aimed to promote interaction among Natura's Innovation partners and expand opportunities for collaboration on projects formed from the Natura Campus 2012 Project Call – Amazon edition, and to act pioneeringly within the Amazonian innovation system.
As a first experience, business partners and researchers from the city of Manaus who submitted proposals classified in the Scientific Committee stage were invited to a meeting focused on collaboration opportunities in science and technology within the Amazonian context. To complete this scenario, funding agencies capable of leveraging potential projects and emerging initiatives from this meeting were also invited.
Representatives from Givaudan, DSM, IFF, Croda, Mane, and Firmenich were present. Researchers from INPA, CBA, UFAM, Embrapa, FUCAPI, Instituto Piagaçu, funding agencies (FINEP and FAPEAM), and local entrepreneurs (Grupo Simões and Grupo Bemol) also participated. A total of 27 targeted meetings were held, seeking synergies for joint action on topics such as Amazonian Biodiversity, Bioprospecting, Green Chemistry, Vegetable Oils, and Biotechnology.
By promoting this field of network interaction, new ways to accelerate innovation were created, consequently strengthening the relationship among the various actors in the regional innovation system of the Amazon.
