Natura Shares Its Sustainable Experiences in a New Book

On Tuesday, 11/6, the book “Water Footprint: innovation, co-responsibility, and the challenges of its application” by Vanessa Empinotti and Pedro Roberto Jacobi was launched.

Environmental education is the central theme of the work, which brings together texts from various national and international authors about the "water footprint" — an indicator that measures the direct and indirect use of water in the production chain of goods and services.

The Natura researcher Ines Francke is the author of one of these texts, in which we record some of our experiences and challenges for the future, in a chapter about the introduction to the water footprint methodology in the corporate context.

“Being pointed out as a case to be followed in sustainability is the recognition of our commitment to balancing economic, social, and environmental impacts throughout the production chain,” said Inês.

The book is an initiative of the University of São Paulo (USP) and was published by Annablume Editora for the Citizenship and Environment Collection.

Natura was the first company in the cosmetics sector to apply the concept of water footprint in such a comprehensive way and the only company in the world to create a water inventory encompassing the entire life cycle of its products.
