Natura Joins the Science Without Borders Program


Today, 04/27, in Brasília, the president of CNPq, Glaucius Oliva, and the Directors of the Vice-Presidency of Innovation at Natura - Victor Fernandes, Luciana Hashiba, Alessandro Mendes, and Elizabete Vicentini - signed the protocol of the company's adherence to the Science Without Borders Program, which aims to internationalize Brazilian science, technology, and innovation through the granting of scholarships.

The program is a joint effort of the Ministries of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC), through CNPq and Capes, and the Secretariats of Higher Education and Technological Education of MEC. The initiative allows for both the sending of researchers abroad and the attraction of scientists to Brazil. A total of 100,000 scholarships will be granted by 2014 in strategic themes and recognized institutions of excellence abroad.

Natura will co-finance 100 scholarships for employees and partners of scientific institutions in Brazil and abroad until 2014. The types of co-financed scholarships will include: sandwich doctoral programs abroad, post-doctoral programs abroad, young talent researcher, special visiting researcher, and internships for specialists abroad (employees).

For Natura, innovation is one of the pillars for achieving sustainable development. Last year, it allocated R$ 146.6 million and launched 164 items, achieving an innovation index, the percentage of revenue from products launched in the last 2 years, of 64.8%. With adherence to the Science Without Borders Program, Natura aims to consolidate and expand its strategy of open innovation with its innovation partners in Brazil and abroad.
