Ecodesign: A New Frontier in Sustainable Technologies

Ecodesign, understood as the integration of environmental sustainability concepts in product development, emerged in Europe since the late 1990s, but is still emerging in the Brazilian academic and business landscape.

Natura is known for its strong commitment to Sustainability and enthusiasm for Innovation; for many years, it has sought to promote the development of products that have less environmental impact. From this internal experience, it consolidated in 2011 its Research in “Sustainable Technologies” on the topic of Ecodesign, aiming to reinforce the life cycle perspective in the company's Product Innovation process in a more innovative way.

The search for more sustainable materials, eco-efficient processes, and new tools aimed at more effective ecodesign practices sparks interest and the potential to bring new opportunities for innovation in sustainable products.

In this new challenge, the focus is on prioritizing cooperation between Natura teams and Brazilian and international specialists, encouraging exchanges and learning between companies and academia, interconnecting various fields of knowledge such as Innovation Engineering, Design, and Materials Technology.
